GEO’s Community Reintegration Centre offers a suite of programs that support men transitioning back into the community following their release from Ravenhall Correctional Centre.
Working with highly skilled post release case managers, clients are provided with support that is tailored to meet their specific needs. The Centre is safe, inclusive, welcoming and supports not only the clients but the people who are important in their lives such as family members and loved ones.
As part of GEO’s Continuum of Care Model, this presentation looks at the programs offered through the centre including pre-and post-release support for men identified as high needs who are remanded or serving a sentence at Ravenhall Correctional Centre. We look at the benefits of intensive pre-release planning and post release support to address the diverse and complex needs of this cohort, and how this planning assists to facilitate successful community reintegration.
Family are an important source of support and connecting with loved ones is an important part of returning to the community.
Our presentation also examines the importance of families receiving information as they prepare for a family member or loved one’s release. This knowledge includes practical support, emotional support and identifying community based services.
