16th Reintegration Puzzle Conference

Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre
1-3 March 2023

Changing Seasons,
Changing Lives

Welcome

The Reintegration Puzzle:
“Changing Seasons, Changing Lives”

On behalf of Deakin University, and the conference organising committee welcome to the 16th Reintegration Puzzle Conference to be held in Perth, Western Australia 1st – 3rd March 2023. The theme for the conference is “Changing Seasons, Changing Lives”.

This year the conference theme will focus on regeneration, the process of renewal, restoration, and growth. The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people of Western Australia recognise that the distinct seasons have distinct purposes. How can we draw on these lessons in our work with people leaving prison? With the current prison system at capacity, how can we influence policy and practice at the state and federal level so that fewer people are caught in the revolving door of prison?

The role people with lived experience of prison can play in changing systems will also be explored once again.

We welcome a broad range of perspectives from those who are supporting people to change their lives after prison and those that are on the journey.

About the Conference

Now in its sixteenth year, the Reintegration Puzzle Conference brings together individuals and organisations working to assist people to successfully reintegrate into the community after prison.

The conference has a mix of keynote and workshop style presentations covering a broad range of topics related to reintegration after prison. Topics include innovative practice, supporting First Nations people, the impact of disadvantage, supporting families and children, throughcare, the role of peers and those with lived experience, housing and homelessness, employment and addiction.

We expect over 200 delegates to attend the conference from all over Australia and overseas. Delegates from the community sector, advocates, policy makers, corrections staff and researchers contribute to the conference.
